Mark Hart
Mark Hart, owner of Hart Designs, www3.telus.net/hartdesigns, is the artist behind hundreds of professional, semi-pro and amateur goalie masks, including the first NHL mask for Henrik Lundqvist of the New York Rangers. Hart is the exclusive painter of the new, original goalie masks for the 2007 Hockey Hall of Fame Inductees.
“In painting the masks, I’ve tried to bring out the players’ talents that got them into the Hall of Fame,” he says.
Hart, based in Terrace, British Columbia, formally studied art and art design for more than 12 years, in both Canada and London, England. He utilizes this formal training to develop, design and airbrush some of the most creative masks and original masks available. |

This mask was created to celebrate the 2007 induction of Al MacInnis, one of a select few defencemen to score more than 1,000 points during his hard-shooting career with the Calgary Flames and St. Louis Blues. A milestone year was 1989, when he helped Calgary to win the Stanley Cup and he was awarded the Conn Smythe Trophy.
For this mask, Hart concentrated on the logos of his two teams. The 98.9 on the side of the mask refers to the 98.9 MPH he slapped the puck during an All-Star contest.
